Laundry supplies – Make Your Own Fabric Softener Dryer “Sheets”

Since I already have the supplies, this was an easy one to start off with.

Items needed
Container with sealed lid
Liquid Fabric Softener
Water
New Sponges
Scissors

Instructions
Open clean container’s lid.
Pour in 1 part liquid fabric softener into container.
Pour in 2 parts water (you can use distilled, bottled, previously boiled or plain old tap) into container.
Cut new sponge into 4 equal strips.
Put all 4 strips into container.
Close lid.
Give the container a little shake.

Viola!  It’s done.

When it’s time to put your clothes in the dryer, just wring out a sponge section (or 2) and throw it in the dryer with the clothes.  When you take your clothes out of the dryer, drop the sponge back into the container.

Repeat over and over and over again.

I have not bought fabric softener sheets in about 6 months now and I’ve only had to make the mixture up one additional time.

Laundry Supplies – Intro

I don’t know about you, but I am seriously sick and tired of wasting money on laundry supplies!

I used to love my super-soft clothes and linens so much that I would use liquid fabric softener in the washer AND dryer sheets.  That was B.K. (before kids).  Since those little tykes have come into my life, I have found that I need to stretch my dollar alot further now!

I switched from Brand Name to the Costco (Kirkland) brands for most of my laundry supplies, but with a household of 5 and critters, I’m constantly doing laundry.  Which means, I’m constantly buying supplies.

I tried not using dryer sheets, but the static cling was impossible.

I tried using only vinegar as my fabric softener in the washer but it did nothing for softness.

Then I came across some posts – make your own fabric softener, make your own dryer sheets, make your own laundry detergent.

Hmmm… and so the journey begins!
